The Arcane Ark - The CFZ Interactive News Archive

In July 2003, Elliot Saunders and Jon Downes instituted the CFZ Forum. Here we post all the news items we receive on cryptozoology, exotic zoology and allied disciplines. However, we have an enormous archive of material prior to this date. Fulfilling our original pledge - made when the CFZ was founded in 1992 - we are slowly making all our archives available through this web-based news server. All articles featured here are archived from public news-media, such as newspapers, scientific journals, news agencies and so on. The information they contain is, and remains, the property and copyright of the original author or journalist and no contest to this right is intended by these reprints, they are produced here for research and archival purposes only.  If you have information or would like to comment on any of these articles, please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments at news@cfz.org.uk

Note from Elliott: Please follow the instructions below to add new articles to the database, whilst I understand that most, if not all of you are computer literate, I post the instructions here in the event someone isn't, so please don't think I'm being patronising.

Firstly, we'd like to say thank you for volunteering to participate in making the world's first truly online depository for cryptozoological news.  There has never been anything close to what we intend this to become, and we thank you for making it what it will be.

To post an article or news story, click on the admin button, which is located on the bottom of the first screen, and a link to it is posted here for your convenience.

Once you're logged in, you'll see a screen like the one below:

The category bar at the top drops down to reveal the current list of categories, which are set, we will not ask you to add new categories, so if you feel the story requires a new category, please email Jon or Elliott.  The category bar will default to the first category in alphabetical order, so please ensure that the category selected is the one the news story best fits into.

Next, question, refers to the title of the article.  We have currently added articles without the date in the title to avoid confusion.  Please just copy the title down as it was written in the article and where not title is given, use the headline or sub line.

Answer refers to the actual body of the article text.  Please either type out the article, or use copy and paste (highlight the text and hold down control and press C to copy it, move to the article answer window, click on it to get the flashing cursor and press down control and press V).  We have usually reproduced the article with the source (name of newspaper or journalist for example) followed by the date as the UK standard day/month/year.

Finally, date, which is the date that the event was written not today's date which is the default date included.  Please check you have changed the date (unless the article was written today).

Finally click the submit button to add the article.
